Never be afraid

scripture and a snapshot

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 4:6-7

Never be afraid to trust an unknown FUTURE to a known GOD.

Sweet Shot Day
Sunday Snapshot

Someday it will all come to an end

Ready or not, some day it will all come to an end
There will be no more sunrises, no minutes, hours or days
All the things you collected whether treasured or forgotten
Will pass to someone else.

Your wealth, fame and temporal power will shrivel to irrelevance
It will not matter what you owned or what you were owed
Your grudges, resentments, frustration and jealousies
Will finally disappear.

So, too, your hopes, ambitions, plans and to-do lists will expire
The wins, the losses that once seemed so important will fade away
It won’t matter where you came from.

It won’t matter whether you were beautiful or brilliant
Even your gender and skin color will be irrelevant.

So what will matter?

What will matter is not what you bought, but what you built
Not what you got, but what you gave.

What will matter is not your success, but your significance.
What will matter is not what you learned, but what you taught.

What will matter is every act of integrity, compassion, courage
or sacrifice that enriched, empowered or encouraged others
to emulate your example.

What will matter is not your competence but your character.

What will matter is not how many people you knew
but how many will feel a lasting loss when your gone.
What will matter is not in your memories
but the memories that lives on in those who loved you.

What will matter is how long you will be remembered and for what.
Living a life that matters doesn’t happen by accident
It happens by choice.

Never, never, never give up.

One day I decided to quit. I quit my job, my relationship, my spirituality. I wanted to quit my life. I went to the woods to have one last talk with God.
"God", I asked, "can you give me one good reason not to quit?"
His answer surprised me.
"Look around you", He said, "do you see the fern and the bamboo?"   "Yes", I replied.

"When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them. I gave them light. I gave them water. The fern grew quickly from the earth. Its brilliant green covered the earth. Yet nothing came from the bamboo seed. But, I did not quit on the bamboo. In the second year the fern grew more vibrant and plentiful. And again, nothing came from the bamboo seed. But, I did not quit on the bamboo", He said.

"In year three there was still nothing from the bamboo seed. But I would not quit. In year four again there was nothing from the bamboo seed. I would not quit", He said.

"Then, in the fifth year, a tiny sprout emerged from the earth. Compared to the fern it was seemingly small and insignificant. But just six months later the bamboo rose to over one hundred feet tall.

It had spent five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong and gave it what it needed to survive. I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle."

He asked me, "Do you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling, you have actually been growing roots? I would not quit on the bamboo. I will never quit on you.
Don't compare yourself to others", He said.
"The bamboo had a different purpose than the fern. Yet they both make the forest beautiful. Your time will come", God said to me, "You will rise high".

"How high should I rise?" I asked.
"How high will the bamboo rise?" He asked in return.
"As high as it can?", I questioned.
"Yes", He said. "Give me glory by rising as high as you can".

I left the forest and brought back this story. I hope that these words can help you see that God will NEVER give up on you.

Never, never, never give up.

words to live by # 1

Today I want you to remember to never take anything personally. We are all on our own journey and will all have different opinions, likes and dislikes. If we are truly happy with yourself in every way, it will not matter what others think or how they treat you.

Distance yourself from those who do not support you on your journey. Remember that there is always a lesson to learn from everyone that comes into our lives as well as every situation we encounter. Sometime is it just a reality check to see where we are in our own lives. Be happy with YOU. You are the only one who really matters anyway.

cousins

Twenty years from now.. I am going to look back and remember that there are those few people who could turn every frown into a smile in a few simple words.

Those people who lifted my heart when I was losing faith in myself. Those few people who carried tears on their shoulders after every fight every break up, every death. The people who always knew what I was feeling by the look on my face.

The few who accepted who I was when everyone else laughed in my face. Those people that accepted every decision I made believing that I'd make the right decisions.

The few who knew who I really was. Those people that made the biggest difference in my life. The ones who were my strength through hard times.

God's Plan

work of heART

Some things are beyond planning.
And life doesn't always turn out as planned.

You don't plan for a broken heart.
You don't plan for a failed business venture.
You don't plan for an adulterous husband or a wife who wants you out of her life.
You don't plan for an autistic child.
You don't plan for spinsterhood.
You don't plan for a lump in your breast.

You plan to be young forever.
You plan to climb the corporate ladder.
You plan to be rich and powerful.
You plan to be acclaimed and successful.
You plan to conquer the universe.
You plan to fall in love - and be loved forever.

You don't plan to be sad.
You don't plan to be hurt.
You don't plan to be broke.
You don't plan to be betrayed.
You don't plan to be alone in this world.

You plan to be happy. You don't plan to be shattered.

Sometimes if you work hard enough, you can get what you want.
But MOST times, what you want and what you get are two different things.

We, mortals, plan. But so does God in the heavens.

Sometimes, it is difficult to understand God's plans especially when His plans are not in consonance with ours. Often, when God sends us crisis, we turn to Him in anger. True, we cannot choose the cross that God wishes us to carry, but we can carry that cross with courage knowing that God will never abandon us nor send something we cannot cope with.

Sometimes, God breaks our spirit to save our soul.
Sometimes, He breaks our heart to make us whole.
Sometimes, God allows pain so we can be stronger.
Sometimes, God sends us failure so we can be humble.
Sometimes, God allows illness so we can take better care of ourselves.
Sometimes, God takes everything away from us so we can learn the value of everything He gave us.

MAKE PLANS, BUT UNDERSTAND THAT WE LIVE BY GOD'S GRACE.
