tagaytay conference center

last february 2013, i attended a spiritual retreat at tagaytay conference center organized by people of Opus Dei.

The central theme was that of following Christ. The teachings of St. Josemaria Escriva encouraged each person to have a personal and unrepeatable encounter with Christ, following these distinct steps: “May you seek Christ: May you find Christ: May you love Christ.

Tagaytay Conference Center organizes retreats and courses on philosophy and theology for men and women.

St Josemaria Escrivá “was a very human saint. All those who met him, whatever their culture or social status, felt he was a father, totally devoted to serving others, for he was convinced that every soul is a marvellous treasure. This attitude of service is obvious in his dedication to his priestly ministry and in the magnanimity with which he launched so many works of evangelization and human advancement for the poorest people.”

“Put your heart aside. Duty comes first. But when fulfilling your duty, put your heart into it. It helps.” - St. Josemaria

If we let Christ reign in our soul, we will not become authoritarian. Rather we will serve everyone. How I like that word: service! To serve my king and, through him, all those who have been redeemed by his blood. I really wish we Christians knew how to serve, for only by serving can we know and love Christ and make him known and loved.” (St. Josemaría Escrivá) - See more at: http://www.integratedcatholiclife.org/2013/01/daily-catholic-quote-from-st-josemaria-escriva-2/#sthash.jLsxHj4x.dpuf

Never correct anyone while you are still indignant about a fault committed. Wait until the next day, or even longer. And then, calmly, and with a purer intention, make your reprimand. You will gain more by one friendly word than by a three-hour quarrel. Control your temper. - St. Josemaria

Conversion is the matter of a moment. Sanctification is the work of a lifetime. - St. Josemaria

To meditate for a while each day and be united in friendship with God is something that makes sense to people who know how to make good use of their lives. It befits conscientious Christians who live up to their convictions. - St. Josemaria

Love our Lady. And she will obtain for you abundant grace to conquer in your daily struggle. And the enemy will gain nothing by those foul things that continually seem to boil and rise within you, trying to engulf in their fragrant corruption the high ideals, the sublime determination that Christ himself has set in your heart. — Serviam, I will serve!  - St. Josemaria

"Lord, if you will you can make me clean."
What a beautiful prayer for you to say often, with the faith of the poor leper, when there happens to you what God and you and I know may happen. YOu wont have to wait long to hear the Master's reply "I will, Be made clean" - St. josemaria
