staying at oriental hotel leyte

We enjoyed our stay at The Oriental Hotel. The resort hotel is also adjacent to the famous MacArthur Landing Memorial, another famed historical landmark in Leyte. Never thought i would find like this hotel in Leyte.

On our way back to our Orietal hotel, we passed by The Leyte Landing Memorial which marks the spot where American liberation forces of General McArthur landed.

On October 20, 1944, General Douglas MacArthur made his promise to return to the Philippines to help the country fight against the Japanese colonizers. This was where the phrase “I shall return” came from. The landing of General MacArthur in the Philippines is one of the most significant historical events in the country.

San Rafael Farm Tacloban

San Rafael Farm is more of a park rather than an actual farm – the wide open green spaces, beautifully landscaped by the owners,  are so inviting and picture-perfect.  We were here last January 25, 2013.

The place is simply so romantic!

If you’re a nature lover and want to experience something peaceful or want to feel an ambiance that is truly Filipino, then this place is best for you.

From Tacloban, we had a 30-minute journey to Batbangon.  We arrived an hour before noon, so we still had enough time to take a stroll before having our lunch at the restaurant. It has a very relaxing and calm atmosphere. It is where I can sit back, relax and just admire nature's beauty.

An open-air walk leads to the restaurant, a structure that reminds some visitors of the upscale resort huts in Bali, Indonesia.
